Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 (16IRX9, 2024)
A 2.61 kg RTX 4090 running the full 175W with slotted RAM and a 99.99 Wh battery, the strongest performance-per-dollar of the 4090 machines here. Linux is workable with the legion-laptop module, suspend needs tuning, and 4 hours is the realistic unplugged figure.
Compiled from public sources and community data, not hands-on tested. What that means.
Best on fedora. Confidence: medium

fedora: NVIDIA proprietary driver required for the 175W RTX 4090, running in Optimus hybrid mode. The legion-laptop kernel module (lenovo-legion-linux project) exposes power modes and fan curves and is the practical equivalent of Lenovo Vantage. Suspend works on the iGPU path but needs the NVIDIA suspend services enabled to be reliable with the dGPU. Slotted DDR5, two SO-DIMM slots. LenovoLegionLinux project →
