Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 5 (Intel)
A 1.09 kg 13-inch ThinkPad with the best keyboard here and 11-hour battery. The 155U avoids the IPU6 webcam trap, but the fingerprint reader is dead on Linux and RAM is soldered. A good small Linux travel box if you order the right SKU.
Compiled from public sources and community data, not hands-on tested. What that means.
Best on ubuntu LTS. Confidence: high

ubuntu-lts: The 155U is a low-power Meteor Lake part, well supported from kernel 6.8. Picking the 155U over the 155H matters here: the U-series uses a UVC webcam, so you skip the IPU6 driver mess that bites the H-series. Fingerprint reader has no working libfprint driver. s0ix only, no S3, so modern-standby drain applies. RAM is soldered LPDDR5x, choose the size up front. Ubuntu certified: ThinkPad X13 Gen 5 →
fedora: Same as Ubuntu. Best small ThinkPad keyboard in this list, which is the actual reason to buy it. Fingerprint is the only hard miss.
