ASUS Zenbook S 16 OLED (UM5606, 2024)
A genuinely good 3K 120 Hz OLED with Strix Point and a 78 Wh battery doing about 10 real hours. Linux works on kernel 6.11 with the asus-linux stack, but the Cirrus speaker setup and s2idle are the usual ASUS tax. For the panel and an all-AMD GPU, worth it; budget an evening of setup.
Compiled from public sources and community data, not hands-on tested. What that means.
Best on fedora. Confidence: high

fedora: Strix Point (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370), so a 6.11-or-newer kernel is the real floor and Fedora 41 is the practical starting point. All-AMD GPU, so graphics are clean on Mesa. The open items are the ASUS-specific ones: the asusctl/supergfxctl stack from asus-linux handles keyboard backlight and platform profiles, speaker audio through the Cirrus amps wants the right sof/firmware and is fiddly until it is set, and s2idle on Strix Point still wants the newest kernel for the deepest idle. Webcam is an IPU6-class module on some SKUs, so marked tweak. The OLED panel is the reason to buy this. asus-linux.org: ASUS laptop Linux support project →
