Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 (AMD)
AMD
The AMD sibling of the T14 Gen 4 trades the Intel model's SO-DIMM slot for soldered LPDDR5x but keeps the 1.42 kg chassis and the ThinkPad keyboard, and the 7840U with Radeon 780M is a real step up in multicore.

hoenix-based 7840U needs a 6.5-or-newer kernel for the AMD P-State EPP driver to default to the Active profile; 22.04's 6.5 HWE kernel covers that. BIOS only offers s2idle, not S3, so expect modern-standby drain behavior. Memory is soldered LPDDR5x-6400 so pick 16 or 32GB up front, there is no SO-DIMM slot on the AMD model.

ArchWiki reports fprint works out of the box and the AMD P-State EPP Active profile is on by default since kernel 6.5. The page notes the Wi-Fi card can occasionally fall into a state that drops outgoing transmissions after several suspend cycles and recommends a sysfs rescan as the workaround.
