HP Victus 16 (2024)
An RTX 4060 gaming laptop from around 1099 dollars with slotted RAM and a 144 Hz panel. The screen is only 300 nits and FHD, the fans are loud under load. For Linux gaming it works once you accept the nvidia hybrid-graphics setup. Good frames per dollar, mediocre everything else.
Compiled from public sources and community data, not hands-on tested. What that means.
Best on ubuntu LTS. Confidence: medium

ubuntu-lts: Raptor Lake HX plus an Ada RTX 4060, so it is a hybrid-graphics gaming laptop. Install the proprietary nvidia driver, then decide between on-demand PRIME and full dGPU. The MUX is fixed in hybrid on most SKUs. Suspend can hang on resume unless nvidia power management is enabled. Webcam is a normal UVC unit. No fingerprint reader on this chassis as far as we can tell.
