Framework Laptop 13 (Intel Core Ultra Series 1)
The fully modular 13-inch with the settled Meteor Lake platform: Framework-supported Linux, slotted RAM, swappable ports, a replaceable battery. Keep the BIOS current for standby drain. If you want repairable hardware that just runs Linux, this is the safe Framework pick over the AMD one.
Compiled from public sources and community data, not hands-on tested. What that means.
Best on fedora. Confidence: high

fedora: Meteor Lake (Core Ultra 7 155H) in the Framework 13 chassis, officially supported by Framework with a Linux page and BIOS updates. Fedora 40 or newer installs clean on kernel 6.8. Fingerprint works with fprintd. s2idle is good but, like all Meteor Lake, deep-idle power is best on a current kernel and BIOS, so keep both updated; older BIOS had higher standby drain. Fully modular: slotted SO-DIMM RAM, swappable expansion cards, a replaceable battery. This is the Intel sibling of the AMD model and the one to pick if you want the most settled platform. ubuntu-lts: Ubuntu 24.04 with the 6.8 HWE kernel is the supported baseline. Same s2idle-on-current-BIOS note as Fedora; keep BIOS updated to keep standby drain low.
