A 999 dollar Meteor Lake all-rounder with a 2.5K 16:10 panel and a genuine 11-hour battery, which is rare at the price. On Windows it is a quiet recommend. On Linux the IPU6 webcam does not work without effort, so factor that in if you need video calls.

ubuntu-lts: Meteor Lake, so the usual Intel Core Ultra Linux story. The webcam is an MIPI IPU6 module: it does not work without the out-of-tree libcamera and ipu6 stack, and even then it is fiddly. Audio needs current sof-firmware. We have not confirmed the fingerprint reader on Linux, so treat it as unknown rather than guess. Use 24.04.2 or newer for the kernel.
